This year has been an absolute dream for me. After being a very active participant in the Edmonton hip-hop scene in the early 90s during its infancy stage, I was forced to make a decision which led me to leave music to get an education and pursue college basketball in the process. After an over 20-year hiatus and watching the local scene mature and flourish, I made a comeback to try to relive the dream I had always regretted leaving behind. I self-produced the entire project and felt alive again for the 1st time in a long time. With decades of life experience under my belt, I poured my heart and soul, fears, anxieties and insecurities into a diary I titled "The Open Book Experience". After releasing the project, the album is gaining international streams and sales as far as Korea and Australia. The album has spawned international collaborations with several artists in the United States (Los Angeles, Kentucky and New York).
I am happy to represent a never give up attitude and to be making music to help people deal with depression, mental health and many other demons. The feedback I am receiving on this project appears to be life changing for some who have contacted me which is the greatest reward I could ask for.
My sophomore album "The Prefix EP" is in the developmental stages and is set for release in the summer of 2018. The 1st single "I Wish I Knew" is available now and features Arlo Maverick and Josh Sahunta. I Wish I Knew was produced by Jey Blaq
I am one half of the ChuBlaqa Production Team, which is rounded out by Jey Blaq. We are working with several talented artists to help them reach their potential and fulfill their musical dreams.
